Liberty Transit Public Comment
The Liberty Transit Development Plan (TDP) proposal identified a critical need for enhancing public transportation services in the Liberty County area to address growing transit demands, improve accessibility, and reduce congestion. During Phase I of the TDP update, we engaged the local community to provide input on Liberty Transit's future improvements. During Phase II of the TDP update, the contracting team solicited feedback on the proposed updates to ensure that the transit system updates align with the needs and expectations of its riders and potential riders.
From April 22, 2024 – May 31, 2024, the public comment period was open for feedback on the proposed plan. During Phase II, the consulting team collaborated on 2 pop-up meetings, conducted 3 stakeholder meetings, and collected 55 comments. The results of this feedback were 99.9% positive in approval of the recommended changes, with more service and facility improvements being the top comments. The inclusion of stakeholders, riders, and potential riders in these outreach activities encourages awareness, partnership, and ridership within the community.
Connections made during this TDP process will be used to create an accessible, efficient, and responsive public transportation system in Liberty County.
