Liberty Transit Survey

The Liberty Transit 2023 Transit Development Plan (TDP) Update required public participation to engage the local community in the planning process for Liberty Transit’s future improvements, ensuring that the transit system aligns with the needs and expectations of its riders and potential riders. Specifically, the inclusion of environmental justice (EJ) communities and populations is a primary concern. Therefore, meetings and meet-ups were held in locations accessible to underserved populations to ensure people most likely in need of the services are represented in the research and feedback process. Liberty Transit owners and operators not only wanted to increase ridership but also efficiency and impact of service delivery.

As a DBE subcontractor, Sparrow Communications leveraged traditional, digital, and social media methods to reach the targeted audience. This resulted in 5 pop-up events, 8 outreach events, connection with an estimated 2,500 stakeholders, and collection of nearly 600 surveys and public. These public outreach efforts provided extensive feedback received, highlighting the community’s interest and involvement in shaping the future of Liberty Transit. The collaborative approach adopted during these outreach activities has fostered a sense of ownership and partnership within the community, setting the stage for a more accessible, efficient, and responsive public transportation system in Liberty County.

Krystal Hart presented the Census 2020 program in an innovative and optimistic way without getting too deep in the weeds. She really brought home the community value and ease of answering.
